What happened when I was willing to broadcast my whole way back from Pärnu to Tallinn today
Today, I've been in Pärnu (±130 KM from Tallinn, Estonia), meeting an interesting guy I hope you all will be able to follow on yaika.ee blog quite soon. On my way back, I have connected my mobile phone to my MacBook Pro willing to broadcast my whole way back. As it starts to be usual, I try to conclude the results here.
Connecting my MacBook to Nokia N95 8GB was quite easy this time, just used a USB cable and that was it - it just worked. You might ask me, why did you connected your Mac to the internet with a USB cable instead of simply using a Bluetooth? No, I'm absolutely happy to use Bluetooth, but I found that when you connect your internet together with any other service also connected over Bluetooth to your computer, it starts to drop connections. Doesn't matter if it's Windows, Mac or anything else. Also USB is definitely faster, if you know what I mean (any comments about that, please add bellow this post)! So I suggest USB cable for better results in such cases.
So connection was great, but the speed was bad. Due to me moving pretty fast, same or even faster my phone was changing the towers. As a result, connection was 3G, then EDGE, then 3G again, then almost nothing. My phone was ringing for a few times, which caused my internet drops. I don't really know if it was due to slow connections (because it needs to be said that it didn't drop my connection all the time, but only when it was really slow) or any other reason - it happened.
Ok, did these connection drops stopped me from broadcasting - of course not. My MacBook Pro battery got empty (seems I forgot to charge it beforehand) and it went to hibernate mode. By the way, do you know why it is not possible to use any car charger for your Mac? Just because Apple (I've been in Apple Store on Regent Street in London two weeks ago and got this information from one of Apple Store geeks) says it kills their MacBooks as they can fire. Strange, why Apple (by the way, it's my favorite OS) cannot sort it out for all of us? Apple, can you give me an answer? Please...?
In conclusion: I am still happy about using my MacBook :-) But I found that it's not still possible to admit that internet is all around us - no, not yet! But (opposite), it definitely all around the city and you can broadcast your video or radio channels without problems.
And another conclusion (even more important) - please don't forget that you are driving a car, even if your notebook is at your right hand, streaming you driving. We need you, so don't get into an accident!!! :-)
