Copyright is a form of legal protection that grants people who create and produce content the exclusive rights to control certain uses of that content. Music, artistic works, videos, video games, books, and films these are examples of the types of content that is protected by copyright. There are limitations to copyright. It does not, for example, generally protect ideas or facts. Copyright protection means that a copyright owner can control certain uses of their work: copying of their content as well as the adapting and transmitting of the content. Uploading and sharing content via the Internet implicates many of a copyright owner's exclusive rights. The exclusive nature of copyright means that only the owner can decide who engages in these activities with respect to their content.
